Medical University of Warsaw

The Medical University of Warsaw is the largest and one of the oldest medical universities in Poland. At present, there are over 11 000 students across its four faculties, including over 500 international students.
The University has a research and academic staff of over 1500, more than 100 of them being professors.
The University offers education at Bachelor's and Master's level in eleven fields and three specialties. Two programmes in Medicine are conducted in English. These are: a 6-year programme offered to high school graduates and a 4-year programme addressed to college graduates with a Bachelor's degree. The University also provides postgraduate education for physicians, as well as doctoral programmes in Medicine and Pharmacy.

Degrees earned at the Medical University of Warsaw are recognized in the United States Department of Health and Human Resources and in all UE countries. The Medical University of Warsaw is the leading Polish medical university, which is confirmed by numerous rankings, as well as the university's research and academic achievements.
The academic staff of the Medical University of Warsaw are highly qualified specialists and recognized authorities. Many of them are national consultants in various fields of medicine.
Five teaching hospitals are affiliated to the Medical University of Warsaw. One of them is the largest teaching hospital in Poland. All of the hospitals are renowned care centres. The University has also its medical depatments in nine other hospitals.

For many years the Medical University of Warsaw has collaborated in research with centres all over the world, including Germany, France, Austria, Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands and the USA. There are 16 formal agreements on scientific cooperation which involve exchange of research workers, joint research projects and publications. Research at the MUW is funded by grants from the the Polish Committee for Scientific Research (c. 150 projects annually) while other forms of external funding include the European Union research fund and financial support by other bodies. Many research projects are funded from the MUW?s own resources.

The University participates in the most important student and academic staff exchange programmes, as well as scientific and research programmes, such as MEDINE and DentEd III Thematic Networks. The University is also a member of international organizations: UNESCO, European Association (EUA), AMEE (Association for Medical Education in Europe) and ECTS-MA (ECTS-Medical Association).
