Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology

General description
Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology was founded in 1994 following the agreement between the governments of Poland and Japan. Since its beginning it has maintained its position of the best non-state IT University in Poland. It has long been considered the most student-friendly university offering a high level of IT education and qualifications sought after by employers.
The combination of Polish and Japanese cultures has created favourable conditions for the creation of an institution conducting research and teaching in the tradition of high working culture and advanced technology of the Japanese with the Polish tradition in science and our individualism. The unique curriculum has been prepared by top Polish computer scientists in collaboration with experts from Japan and the USA. It is systematically adjusted to the changing needs of the Polish job market, educational standards in the European Union and the developments in computer science.

International projects
PJIIT is open to international projects. The most notable example to date is the establishment at PJIIT of a training centre for specialists from countries of Central and Eastern Europe. This was done in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Another important international project is the establishment of e-learning centres in Ukraine carried out within the framework of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Our own e-learning centre at PJIIT has been awarded the status of Centre of Excellence in E-learning by the State Committee for Scientific Research. Thanks to our cooperation with leading IT companies, our graduates do not have problems finding employment. Many student take up jobs in IT before they finish education.

International cooperation
PJIIT cooperates with some foreign universities in the exchange of both students and lecturers. PJIIT is closely linked to a number of universities from EU and Japan:

• Great Britan: Leeds Metropolitan University, Luton University, Westminster University, Sheffield-Hallam University, Heriot-Watt University


• Ireland: University College Dublin, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, National University of Ireland, Galway, University College Cork


• Italy: Universita del Piemonte Orientale Amadeo Avogardo


• Japan: Saitama University, Ibaraki University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.

In addition
PJIIT has the right to grant the title of PhD in computer science. The Institute employs prominent specialists from Poland and abroad.
PJIIT state-of-the art equipment comprises a Hitachi supercomputer, unique multimedia devices, stationary and mobile robots, Silicon Graphics stations, 3D scanner, BlueBox, HAPTIC tactile interface, Bluetooth. We use leading edge software, eg Oracle, SAS, SAP, Macromedia Director and Flash, 3D Studio Max, Maya, etc.
PJIIT main campus is located in very center of Warsaw. The Institute has two local branches: in Bytom and Gdansk.
